Using Google to search for help & how to's

Postby mumbo719 on Sun Feb 11, 2007 9:38 am

Need help for a specific how to or help? Use Google to narrow your search to a specific site. (I'm a Noob and this has saved me much time and frustration)

go to Google or use the Firefox search tab and type

site:http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/

followed by what you are searching for.

Example: site:http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/ bianca

Brings up 10 pages on the mint forum with Bianca as the search.

Most fixes and how to's from the Ubuntu forum also work on Mint so you can do something like this.

site:http://www.ubuntuforums.org/ nvidia

This brings up 58k in matches for fixes and how to's for Nvidia.

Enjoy!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Google Linux search

Postby chopperjamie on Thu Feb 22, 2007 2:20 pm

Hi there,
I am new to the Linux Mint forums...but I have been using Linux Mint for a few months now and I love it. I thought I would hook up and join the community.
Along the google path is http://www.google.com/linux
It is a search engine for just Linux stuff and I find it extremely helpful.

Regards,
Jamie
