Installing Linux Mint on flash drive

Im only writing this because I spent a week almost going over forums time and time again until I well anyway.
What I tried to do was install Linux to flash drive while still using the flash drive easily on any pc and on the linux. see I wanted to partition the flash d torive house the linux on one partition and the rest of my usb on another. as everyone knows with windows, you can not partition a flash drive and if you do you can only view the first primary on a windows. This is not the case for linux. with that being said, if you want your Linux partitioned on a usb drive I can help.

First off go to http://www.partition-tool.com/landing/home-download.htm
download the free home version.

Once you install it and have it started go into the program and click on the usb drive.
Right click and shrink the size down to what you need for linux to operate in persistence mode or for linux to run. (make it so the unallocated space is on the left VERY IMPORTANT)

Once this is done leave the program and go to http://www.linuxliveusb.com and install that (if you are using the persistence mode)
Install it onto the partition you made.

after that is finished go back into the partition program and right click on the unallocated space before the newly installed Linux.

Format it to fat32 and name it.
Right click on the newly made partition and make it primary. you will now have two primary. and by windows standards you will be able to access the first partition to add files.

if you need to access your linux files for what ever reason in windows then you must make the first partition logical.

your computer will still boot linux and windows will read it as a normal flash drive. best part of all is when linux starts you will find a mapped drive already on the desk top to your flash drive..

here are some links that helped me
