Linux Mint 13 Xfce works on Asus 1025C-BBK301

Post by matt392 »

It appears that Linux Mint 13 Maya Xfce works on the Asus 1025C-BBK301 netbook:

Note that when I installed it along with Windows 7, it would not recognize the wireless card, but when I installed it by itself after blowing away the Windows partition it appeared to recognize it right away. For some reason, Linux Mint 14 Xfce does not even recognize the video card, so one cannot get to the Live Demo version of Linux Mint 14 off a flash drive. Tried several other Linux Netbook distros, (EasyPeasy, Puppy, Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Joli) but none of them would recognize the wireless driver.

The wireless chipset is Atheros AR9485:

The kernel module used for the wireless is ath9k:

Installed kernel is 3.2.0-23-generic (i686).

Hope this helps others who have had the same netbook.

If you have a Community site account (or create one), you can also add such reviews to the Linux Mint hardware compatibility database: http://community.linuxmint.com/hardware/search

@matt392

Bought this Netbook for my daughter -she hates it and it is slow on Windows and the Gate Cloud is very limited.

Have tried a couple of distros as well but none have correct video drivers. Does Maya?

Not likely to keep it if cannot get correct resolution. (I am assuming that -BBK301 is the same as the Flare Series I bought)

Thanks for posting this test!
