Have been trying to install the latest WINE (not and emulator!!) so that I can maybe run MS Outlook (2007).
The Wine install always fails so I must be doing something wrong.
I am reasonably computer literate but not a GEEK. (Sorry)

Re: Install Wine to use MS Outlook
Hi,
I'm running Outlook 2011 (after running Outlook 2007) for quiet some time using Codeweavers CX office. That works great for me, however you need to pay. The trick (to my understanding) is that Codeweavers to some extend tune wine, so that their supported applications run, but also provide an automatism what needs to be installed in addition (like Net2.0 or something). Maybe, your just missing some of those runtime environments an some winecfg settings for Outlook to install and run. Don't know if stock wine does in principle run Outlook 2007.
Your best bet might be to install http://www.playonlinux.com. They provide automated setup and install procedures of windows applications under wine. Certainly, they do for MS Office, not sure if that includes Outlook.
Good luck!

If your having issues with wine first question is how are you trying to install Wine from mint repository or you trying to install via another method? Simplest would be install wine and Play on linux from the repo then you can install newer wine versions from Play on Linux. If wine is failing to install it sounds like a dependancy issue
