As for "HowTo's" in general, you can just as well open a new thread in a forum sub-section and just write away. Many of us here do that all the time :D

Examples from me and others (in no particular order):

npap - "ADDING YOUR LANGUAGE AFTER INSTALLATION TO DISC."
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... =8421#8421

helge_karl - "LinuxMints 2.2 Bianca on the Macbook"
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... =8954#8954

mumbo719 - "How to: Hotmail through Evolution "
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... =7099#7099

Alephcat - "Howto: setting up Beryl on Linux Mint"
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... =6364#6364

9812713 & scorp123 - "How To: Partition your Hard Drive"
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... =1913#1913
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... =1949#1949

scorp123 - "Known Issues + How to fix them"
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=872#872

So if you think you could contribute by adding something, I'd say "go ahead!" :)

Well, that's why we have a search function here. Or do you really think I found all those links (again) because I know them by heart?

I might get on with it next week - I doubt I have the time this week - probably have to buy a new car besides going to work :(

A good idea Husse.
How about the Wikimint. Community Portal>Discussions. That's where it will never be pushed down to the bottom. http://www.linuxmint.com/wiki/index.php ... ity_Portal
After all, we should all make use of this facility.

What do you think, Scorp 123?

The Community Portal is yours to modify. Don't hesitate to structure it and create a start page over there, with links to your tutorials. It's not there to talk or ask for help, it's there for you to use it as a reference.

For instance, you can modify the community portal page and make it point to sub-sections (pages that you create in the wiki) and have these sub-sections point to tutorials (wiki pages that you create to put your tutorials).

Well, enough said. It's your community portal after all :)

One thought though ... would it be possible to make some posts "sticky" in some forums? I think some of the how to's I linked to up there are really good and should be made "sticky" so they always remain on top ...

Yepp I saw that above, but there is no link on the homepage. There has been added Linux Mint support Centre but that does not link to a wiki

Note that there is a Navigation window on the left Husse. You can go to different pages from there.

The link to the wiki is on the top right of the homepage, just beside the link to the forum.

I suspect the navigation panel npap mentions is the one on the wiki, because I don't see any either on the homepage

Enjoy!

A link to the Wikimint was added to the Home page recently.

Hello mfab,
I can see that links to Linuxmint.com and the Wiki were added today to the top of the Forum page.

Hello mfab,
The Wikimint is more or less like a quick reference to news, articles and how to's etc. And it's not for posting requests for help and other general stuff.
It won't replace the forum.
