Streaming to newer Samsung Smart TV's using MediaTomb

Post by orion2014 »

So, I've spent 2 days trying to stream from MediaTomb to my Samsung TV UN55ES6550, with no luck. They have a patch method, but I'm unable to compile from the source code that's provided on the website, and I'm not trying to screw up the setup I already have. I have MediaTomb configured to stream to my PS3, my PC's, and all my Android devices, and it even show up on my TV, but it doesn't seem to find any files. Being that I can't compile, I can't implement the patch that solves the issue of Samsung disabling streaming through MediaTomb. So, I'm streaming from MediaTomb to my TV via my Android. My Android is a LG-LG730, and the application is called SmartShare, LG bloatware. The thing is this might not work for everyone, but if the app installs on your device, then it will. This is the first Android that I haven't been able to crack the bootloader on, but I'm still rooted, but not fully, and I managed to pull the app, from my device. I'm not fully sure if i'm violating forum rules, by providing this workaround, so take advantage while this thread is still active. If it works for you, enjoy.
