Get Compiz Fusion with Sphere in Gnome, KDE, & XFCE

Post by merlwiz79 »

A screenshot of what it looks like: http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... 34#p100934

Install with mintInstall:
Gnome and XFCE:
http://www.box.net/shared/708hg9t07k

KDE CE compiz-kde updgrade
http://www.box.net/shared/mr9udnxxdy

Get the Sphere:
You can now go to System > Preferences > CompizConfig Settings Manager and enable Cube Reflection and Deformation
Change Deformation to sphere.
Change in General Horizontal Virtual size to 4

XFCE Defaults:
General --> Display Settings --> Texture Filter --> Fast
General --> Focus & Raise Behaviour --> Focus Prevention Level --> Off

If you want to keep getting updates add these to /etc/apt/sources.list

Code: Select all

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/compiz/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/compiz/ubuntu hardy main
May have to reboot before it works.
Any problems enabling Sphere download and extract this file.
Gnome and XFCE only not KDE
sphere.profile.tar.gz
Then open CompizConfig Settings Manager --> Preferences
Now Click Import and import the sphere.profile.
Alt + F2 and Run compiz & to restart compiz.

Thanks a lot for the .mint file. Works like a dream, if you remember to restart the computer :?

Sorry but I don't have KDE installed yet, plan on doing that to day.
Then I can make a .mint file.

Seems I've got to update ccsm to get the reflection/deformation plugin

Cheers

Added a mintInstall file for KDE should work perfectly.

I tried this on KDE and it broke my cube. :(

Now, instead of a sphere or cube, I have a two-sided sheet. Can anyone help me with this?

EDIT: Nevermind, I got it. I'm really digging it!
