make webcamera work

install gspca-source in synaptic

in terminal run:
Code: Select all
$ m-a prepare
  $ m-a a-i gspca


it might give you an error, it did to me - but worked anyway :)

start skype - or another application for video conferencing, and under video devices you should see your camera.

voila, that's it.

worked for me with a canyon cn-wcam21 camera - the cheapest chinese stuff money can buy.

Yes, the camera worked until this new kernel. Not an exclusive problem of Mint, also happening on sidux, Dreamlinux, Ubuntus etc. I've read that gspca and v4l still doesn't fully support 2.6.27 kernel. Just have to wait a little more. :wink:
