How to install omnibook modules

Postby merlwiz79 on Sat Jun 06, 2009 1:38 am

http://packages.kirya.net/debian/pool/m ... -1_all.deb
Install prerequisite packages:
sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-`uname -r`
Next, install the .deb file you downloaded (double-click in GUI or sudo dpkg -i in terminal). This will place a tarball in /usr/src, so:
cd /usr/src
sudo tar -xjvf omnibook.tar.bz2
cd modules/omnibook
sudo make install
sudo depmod -a
sudo modprobe omnibook

I think you have to correct something it isnt: sudo tar -xzvf it is:

sudo tar -xjvf omnibook.tar.bz2

Maybe it didn't install.
Try copying omnibook.ko to /lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/kernel/drivers/char/ and /lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/kernel/drivers/misc/
Then do the last 2 commands.

Edit: I found it in /lib/modules/2.6.28-11-generic/extra/

Maybe you should try this command.
sudo module-assistant auto-install omnibook
That should make a .deb package and install it for you.

Bad luck, the kernel headers for the target kernel version could ▒
│ not be found ▒
│ and you did not specify other valid kernel headers to use.
thats what i got when i ran the assistant command in modules/omnibook

you have to do sudo modprobe omnibook ectype=12
then the bluetooth magically works it really depends on what you need omnibook for i guess.
