I kept searching through Synaptic Package Manager to download and install the OooQuickstarter for Gnome, but there wasn't any. AND, there's no need to! It's built right into Open Office already!!!
It is easy in Linux Mint to add the OpenOfficed Quickstarter to the Panel.
Open up a text document (i.e. Open Office Writer).
Go to Tools>Options>then click on Memory.
Near the bottom place a check/tick mark next to "Enable Systray Quickstarter".
Now you can open up Writer (word processor), Calc (spreadsheet), Impress (presentation), From Template...., Drawing and Database very quickly!
Enjoy!
