Install Compiz Fusion with mintInstall & working Emerald

I'm having the same problems. Compiz won't auto load with Session entries applied and also Emerald isn't working at all.

Hey thanks for the reply. I found the old tutorial helpful. I thought LinuxMint would have different configurations, but it's actually the same. I just followed part 2 of this tutorial: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=511166

Now I have compiz-fusion/beryl/emerald working smoothly. Session entries auto load also. Thanks for your help.

BTW. LinuxMint kicks ass!!! New to it but really attached to it.

This thread (and HowTo) was recommended to me in another thread today after I announced that I was unable to get CF working in Mint (although it DOES work perfectly for me in Ubuntu Feisty and in Debian Sid on the same computer).
Well, I tried this HowTo, but it's still not working.
The CompizConfig Settings Manager does show up in System>Preferences but it doesn't get me very far.
Two things I didn't fully understand:

Open Berly Manager and change any settings you normally have to change to run Compiz

As I have no experience running Compiz (only CF), I don't normally do anything here. What SHOULD I do to run Compiz?

You need to enable the Rotate Cube and then Click Enable Cube to get it to work

I just cannot find any Enable Cube to click.
In addition, my ~/.compizconfig folder does NOT contain a default.ini file so I'm unable to make the recommended change to this file..

When I change the Window Manager in Beryl-Manager to Compiz (from Beryl), no cube rotation is allowed, and all windows appear without decoration and cannot be moved.
This problem with the windows decoration and movement persists even when I switch the WM back to Beryl (although the cube does now rotate).
The only way to get window decoration and movement back is to reboot.

The 1st one is for you to have the drivers and xorg.conf for you machine set up to use 3d acceleration.

To enable the Rotate Cube plugin you need to open CompizConfig Settings Manager and Check the box next to the plugin name.

You may also want to enable Viewport Mouse Switch to use the Scroll Wheel on the Mouse to switch Desktops.

I have added a fix for getting Emerald to work.

Well, unfortunately, CF still does not work for me in Mint.
I don't believe it is a /etc/X11/xorg.conf problem as Beryl (which requires the same additional stuff in xorg.conf) works perfectly.
Additionally, I have already installed CF successfully in several other distros and never had the problems I am experiencing here in Mint.

But as many others seem to have it working well in Mint, perhaps there' some kind of imcompatibility in my computer.
I use a Dell Dimension 4550 (2.53 GHz CPU, 1024 MB RAM) with a nVidia GeForce4 MX 420 card.
