I was reading instructions for amorak from the Ubuntu help forums, but I got an unknown operation when I got to the command sudo apt-get hold...

The hold operation is not in Linux Mint. if anyone knows the appropriate command, this amorak would work for syncing an iPod touch in Linux.

Have you tried GTK Pod (also GPix Pod for Pictures) Works with 1st Gen Touch Classics and Phone

Amorak does not support I-Stuff very well,Rhythmbox works better,Also Banshee (Touch :?: ) but sync some Pods :)

Remember This is NOT a Linux Problem but Apple, wanting you to USE I-Tunes Which they don't make for Linux (They even break other Windows programs) Media Monkey,Winamp :(
Try GTK-Pod From the Repos,If it don't Work for you Install the new One
Remember :!: Set up your I-Stuff from Windows or Mac before using on Linux,If you get it Working, DON'T HOOK IT UP TO I-TUNES,DON'T UPDATE ANYTHING--Apple removes Linux Support with Updates :( :(

After installing GTKPod the system does not even mount the iTouch(which it did before) and so, I removed GTKPod now the system is at least able to mount it. But the issues that I previously mentioned still exists

With Mint 10 I could sync my ipod touch 2gen natively, using Rhythmbox. No issues whatsoever. Just upgraded to Mint 11 and surprise surprise, although the itouch mounts ok and appears in the now standard Banshee, I can't sync podcasts/music. It does seem that it works, as Banshee displays the sync operation and the itouch screen also display "syncing ipod", and I am able to see songs/podcasts in the itouch from Banshee. However, after disconnecting no songs/podcasts show in the itouch.

To make matters worse, I managed to sync songs after installing Rhythmbox, however, it will not download podcasts! I have reproduced this problem in two laptops (Toshiba Satellite A300 and Macbook Pro 1 gen). Ubuntu 11.04 is certainly to blame, as I also reproduced this issue using it in the Macbook Pro (also, see https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s ... ion/163419 and http://banshee-media-player.2283330.n4. ... 86940.html). It remains frustrating to experience these regressions in Mint 11 though.
