Tip: Use Linux Mint custom search in chromium-browser

Post by bluerabbit4210 »

I know that using the Linux Mint custom Google search, which is only enabled by default for Firefox, puts a penny in the pocket of the Mint team, so I figured I would add a little howto tip for all you chromium users who'd like to support the project. It's dead simple:

In your chromium browser window, right-click the address/search bar, select "Edit Search Engines..."

In the popup dialog, click the "Add..." button.
In the "URL:" field, add:

Code: Select all

http://www.google.com/cse?cx=002683415331144861350%3Atsq8didf9x0&q=%s&ie=utf-8&sa=Search
Put whatever you like in the two remaining fields, but it should be both unique and descriptive. I use "Google Mint" and "linuxmint.com" for the "Name:" and "Keyword:" fields, respectively.
"Save" these options, click "Make Default", and you're done!
Happy Minting!
