how to configure a dlan adpter

Post by DoppelB2000 »

Hello Everybody,

I am currently using a homeplug ethernet connection. I have two dlan adapter from the same manufacturer and they work fine with each other and Linux mint has no problems with recognizing and communicating with them.
Now I have bought another one from a different manufacturer which has a different password and a different MAC address. For Windows the manufacturer provides a software which enables me to give the plug adapter a new password, but after each pulling from the socket the adapter is set on default values. My question is if there is a program in linux or a script which assist me in changing the values of the dlan adapter ?

I hope you have been able to understand my question.

The program would be the network manager (GUI) that is already being provided in your Linux distribution and providing Network manager control of the Ethernet, usb or wireless connections, either automatically (some type of DHCP) or manually as in a fixed or static IP addressing setup, where you provide the broadcast, node (each Linux machine) IP address, and router (the device that is providing the general connection for all machines on that home network

Will require some manual editing/configuration and testing by yourself..

You can try a static (fixed IP) setup for the network connections for the Linux machines with that new dlan
--as a matter of interest what was wrong with getting the same brand/model # you used previously with Linux, as it had no issues..
