that well advertised. So in this short article I am going to show you how to change the colour scheme in order to match any sort of theme you can think of.
All of MintMenu's options can be accessed by simply right-clicking the menu icon > Preferences.
The only options you need to change to completely skin your menu are the ones highlighted here
And for anyone that can't guess, 'custom_border_color' defines the colour of the border whose thickness can be changed with 'border_width' (measured in pixels), 'custom_color' defines the background colour of the menu and 'custom_heading_color' defines the colour of the headings, ie. Places, System, etc.
At this stage you may be thinking 'all thats there is numbers, not colours!'. These codes are the Hex values for the colours. 'But how do I know the code for the colour I want?' I hear you ask!! Well this is where our old friend the GIMP comes in.
1. Open it up and double click the foreground colour to open the colour selecting dialog.
2. Simply select a colour however you would normally.
3. Now notice that it gives you a 'HTML Notation' for the colour, this is the code which you will copy and paste into your chosen field in the MinMenu preferences.
Or, if you want to copy exactly the colours of a theme you're using or you want to copy colours from a picture follow these steps.
1. Open a screenshot of your theme or your chosen picture in the GIMP
2. Select the 'Colour picking tool'
3. Now simply click wherever in the picture you want to take the colour from
4. A box will appear containing all the information about the colour you selected and the part you want is the 'Hex' code.
5. So again, simply paste this code into the menu preferences and you are done!
Now right click the icon, select reload pugins and admire your nicely skinned MintMenu!
