Low Resolution after NVIDIA driver update on Mint 14 system

Postby matse on Sun Feb 17, 2013 5:15 pm

I just installed the new NVIDIA Driver on my Mint 14 system. I have an external screen attached to my laptop. The external screen has a native resolution of 1920x1080. The Laptop has a native resolution of 1366x768.
Using the NVIDIA X Server Settings tool, the resolution for the laptop screen is set to "Auto". I can not change this resolution to the 1366x768. It is fixed to 800x600. On the Laptop screen the extended desktop is shown multiple times.

Does anyone know who I could set my native Laptop resolution to 1366x768?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I did long searches around the internet and found no solution to that behaviour. Finally I reworked the xorg.conf but with no success.

So I decided to deinstall the nvidia driver and use the linux mint built in drivers. This works fine.

Hi maste - I actually faced a similar issue of losing resolution but fortunately got it fixed by removing the xorg.conf file and KDE generated it again for me on re-boot. My Nvidia Graphics card is Optimus enabled hence had to install 'bumblebee' to get the card working.

Do you mean removing the file and generating it again as explained in this tutorial.

Also, post your Graphics card details so that others can share if they have faced issues on the hardware.

Below links help in searching for linux related topics. I find them very useful to solve linux related issues.
