Mint 12 linux.mod not found!

Postby selman555 on Fri May 04, 2012 3:46 pm

Hi all,

I am not an expert on linux, but now I think I might have done something that gets met into grub rescue!

I have succesfully dualbooted my laptop with Mint 12 & Windows mbr with win7 & server2008R2. All of a suddon (my fault... I know), Grub2 sent me to grub rescue!
I tried to follow instructions on how repair grub without live CD (I do have live cd of mint 12, but nothing seems to work). See link:
http://karuppuswamy.com/wordpress/2011/ ... for-grub2/

When typing insmod (hd0,7)/boot/grub/linux.mod I get the error message "file not found"

There are several things i've tried with the live cd... all of the methods involved chroot, but I always to error messages like these cp: cannot stat 'blablabla...'
I tried something like:
sudo mount /dev/sda7 /mnt
sudo grub-install --root-directory=/mnt

I also tried to run disk fschk. It tried to fix a lot of errors in the /boot/grub folder, but still no go.

Could someone help me please?
