suspend and hibernate no longer works.

My computer was working fine but this morning it decided that suspend and hibernate will not work. The screen goes black and there it a line in the upper right corner that blinks. That's about all that it does. Can anyone tell me what may be wrong? As far as I know I haven't changed any settings.

Not a clue what's wrong, but it might help if you indicate what hardware and distro (OS) you have.
