Install bug on Samsung N100S series (Mint 12)

Postby johnb0647 on Thu May 10, 2012 7:31 pm

Trying to install Mint 12 on a new Samsung N100SP I got for my niece who's off to college next week.

Live Flash drive boots fine. System Settings/Appearance incorrectly reports screen resolution as 1920x1200. System Settings/Displays incorrectly reports display as 800x600. No other options on pull down.

Samsung specifies resolution as 1024x600.

This problem prevents me from completing install. Immediately after entering computer name, primary user login ID and PW, etc. the installer detects a built in camera and offers the opportunity to take a photo. The option screen buttons, ?[Cancel]? and/or ?[Continue]? are not accessible and one must boot out of the screen.

I hope there's a fix. I'd hate to subject the poor kid to Unity. <G>
