After Mint Daryna Update Dual Boot not working {part.solved}

Post by Cariboo »

Hi All,
I have Ubuntu 7.10-amd64 and Linux Mint Dayna installed on my computer.
After a Daryna update yesterday I can't boot into Ubuntu any more.
It seems that /etc/lilo.conf or /boot/grub/menu.lst has changed and the entry for the Ubuntu kernel is deleted.
What do I have to do to get the boot option for Ubuntu back again? :?:

I figured out that /boot/grub/menu.lst has been changed during or after the Daryne update.
I wonder why that happened without backing up the existing menu.lst? :?:

It's odd, isn't it?
How can the system update change the /boot/grub/menu.lst?
Has anybody an idea to that strange update behavior? :?:

Hi everybody...
to get the dual boot working again I had to enter:
title Ubuntu 7.10, kernel 2.6.22-14-generic
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-generic root=UUID=e4af70f0-d555-49ab-8dd0-687cc3e7f81c ro iommu=noaperture quiet splash
initrd /initrd.img-2.6.22-14-generic
quiet
boot
in the /boot/grub/menu.lst of the Mint system.

I still don't know why the menu.lst was changed after the Mint upgrade?
Has anybody an idea, thought or answer?
I would like to declare the case as solved
Thanks
