Image current install of LM

Hello,
I started using Linux when LM12 was released. Now I want to make it my primary and only OS.
Before I can leave Wind0ws in the dust I need to be able to image/backup my hard drive.
1) What software is included or recommended for this
2) Please point to a url with some kind of instructions, tutorial or demo so I can learn to use it.
3) Also I need the solution to backup to a USB drive.
Any tips or personal experiences and preferences you have are sincerely appreciated.
I have been using the LM software for day to day tasks/needs, but my experience on troubleshooting is very limited.
Also if you have a site that you feel is particularly useful, send it to me. (if URL posting is allowed on the forum).
