Installer crashing

Postby Emegra on Fri May 25, 2012 4:48 pm

Hi everyone
I'm trying to upgrade to Maya 13 but during the install process the installer (at the point of importing documents and settings) gives a message saying it can't migrate some of the documents & settings but will continue with the installation then says installation complete then shortly after reports Installer has crashed, I tried burning another disc this time without codecs but it done exactly the same thing at exactly the same point I then tried both discs in compatibility mode exactly the same I then tried going back to Lisa 12 using a disc I used to install the last time but it's now doing the same thing as well, so now i have no system and I'm writing this from the live dvd, I know Broadcom network cards can be a problem but mine is a realtek, any ideas

Many Thanks

Graeme

have you tried manually coping all the documents to other drive or partition? once you have done that, you can skip importing documents and settings during installation. also wht error msg u get when the installer crashs? can u post contents of installation error log? when u r using live cd, u can find that file in /ver/log/installer/debug

Are Documents and Settings Windows files? If they are, your installation may choking about all of these files.

Hi oobetimer

I'm sorry I should have answered your post before now I don't check the forums often enough, I did finally solve the problem by booting up the live disc and reformatting my drive in gparted, I don't know if that was really the right thing to do but it let me install, once again thanks for your response

Many thanks
