Lockup and Black Screen on Live CD Install

Post by steve9199 »

Just burned the Live CD of 4.0, and after I see the spash screen, after a short time I get a "Black Screen". Tried booting in regular and safe graphics mode...no luck. Any suggestions?

Tried the 3.1 Live CD and got this error: "isolinux: Disk Error 64, AX = 4280, drive 9F"
Thanks

Hardware:

HP Pavillion 766 MHz Intel Pentium 3

It could be a bad CD but I think this is it
256 MB RAM
Gone are the day when Linux hardly used memory....
The X server needs a bit of memory and we recommend a minimum of 384 MB, but I know people have managed with 256 MB
One way to do it is to use Knoppix or some other light weight distro to partition and make a swap partition. The live CD will use the swap partition, so it might work
