Not a bad little machine! Maybe you should try burning the ISO at a slower speed....and verify the data on it at completion. Have you changed your boot sequence in the BIOS to boot from DVD drive before the hard disks?

KDE4 CD or DVD? Anyway, first things first,
did you verify the MD5 hash of your downloaded iso????
I downloaded XFCE CE and the first time the checksum didn't match the string on the download web page. So I downloaded again and all was OK.
