Cannot install additional drivers on fresh install

Postby EugeneK on Thu Jun 28, 2012 12:19 am

Hi

I just installed Linux Mint Cinnamon 64 - bit and want to install additional drivers, it shows me list of available drivers but when select driver and press Activate it very quickly shows some wiggling dialog window, I cannot see what is written there and then shows message box - You are not authorized to perform this action.
I think it should prompt for password at this stage but it does not.
Any ideas what is wrong?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Have you set yourself as administrator!
Usually not authorized means you need to change your user status
Go to menu admin / users & groups change user status to admin
Hope this helps

What driver do you want to install? If it does not work, you can try it in terminal.

For NVIDIA graphics driver:
Code: Select all
apt install nvidia-current

For ATI/AMD graphics driver:
Code: Select all
apt install fglrx

Feel free to correct me if I'm trying to write in Spanish, French or German.
