Linux Mint 13 and Sis Mirage

Postby Scoot_eruk on Sat Aug 18, 2012 6:12 am

I am hoping someone will be able to give me some advice. I have a dvd with linux mint 13 which I have used to isntall it on a couple of old PC and everything works fine (So I am sure that the DVD and image on it are all fine)
I am trying to install it on my small Shuttle PC with SIS mirage graphics and the liveCD just wont load. After the menu, I get light grey screen with blinking curosr and then few seconds later the CD drive stops,
I have looked at various articles here and on google and have tried nomodeset, vga=2, pressing spacebar, noacpi etc but to no avail. I really love Mint and want to use it on my Shullte PC.

All the hardware in the PC is fine as I had windows running on it until yesterday before formatting.. didnt even thing I will have this problem installing Linux mint on it.

Is there anyone who has any expereince of this problem and can help me find a fix

Thanks and Regards

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I have now tried various Mint version and can see that Linux mint 9 loads ok on the same shuttle machine. I am hoping some linux expert will be able to tell me -is it something to do with kernel version?

Is there any way to get Linux mint 13 to load and boot up on this machine?
Thanks

40 views and not even one answer!!!!

I loved Mint but am so disappointed with the forum that have thrown away the CD now.

Shame how unhelpful this forum is. Clearly no one here is really passionate about this product
