Too Slow To Install

Postby TheAlbinoEthiopian on Sun Apr 06, 2008 4:20 pm

I've been trying to install the XFCE version of Daryna for about 3 hours now, but the live version is so slow that I can run the installer. Is there possibly a way to install it without running live? I tried Safe Graphics Mode, but I got a lot of errors that I couldn't read because it wasn't sized to my screen properly. Linux noob here, elaboration appreciated.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Sounds to me like you haven't got enough ram.

What's the recommended amount? My computer was pretty cheap, I've only got 256mb RAM.

I would have thought 256 was adequate for an installed system, but some have problems installing with such a low amount.

Have you tried other distros? I believe xubuntu has a text-mode installer.

I talked to a friend and he also suggested Xubuntu, I guess I'll give that a shot. Thanks for the help. :)
