SOLUTION: In the end, I managed to install Mint on one of the times when the icon decided to respond, ie, the problem has not been soled per se, only avoided.
Hej/Hi!
I am completely new to linux, migrating from win 7 after it selfdestructed. I'm not trying to double boot.
My hardware is an Acer Aspire 7730 with an WD hard drive as the original crashed. The disk have been reformated (NTFS) directly before install.
I have been able to boot Live CDs with both Ubuntu 12.04.1 and the Mint 13.
However, when I doubleclicked the icon "Install Linux Mint" it got stuck and the cursor went into "wait" mode. relevant xkcd:http://xkcd.com/961/[1]
Before burning the dvd I checked the iso-file's Md5Sum number with winMd5sum and it was correct.
I burned the dvd using Infrarecorder at the lowest speed.
So, what could possibly be wrong?
