"Unable to find (...) live file system" Installation error

Postby twisted_daylight on Wed Sep 19, 2012 5:30 am

Im trying to install Linux Mint 13 on an old XP Computer. I Downloaded, MD5 tested and burnt the ISO image to a DVD and booted the PC from the disk.

I select "Start Linux Mint" in the first screen (although the problem also happens if i select any other option).
Then the screen goes grey, then black, and the the message "(initrans) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system" appeares.
What does this mean and how do I get past it?

The computer has a Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.66GHz and 2GB RAM, the IDE DVD drive was transplanted from another computer and can run DVD's under Widows (also its displayed correctly in the Bios).

I hope someone can help me, as this is the first time I've tried to work with any version of Linux.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.
