My first linux install so be gentle:)
I'm trying to install Linux 13 Mate on 1 SSD disk and /home on 2 HDD that is in raid0
I made the raid0 in Disk utlility with a live USB key.
Selcted the SSD for / and the raid0 for /home. did not make a /swap cause i have a SSD and 16GB og RAM (read something about you dont need swap if you have enough ram).
the installation stops at: Executing 'grub-install /dev/md0' failed.
Do i have to make a small partition on each disk and assign /boot to them?

i'll try to make an example (remember i have never used Linux and i not very good with computers)
sda1: /boot
sda2: Linux raid partition
sdb1: /boot
sda2: Linux raid partition
md0: /home
sdc1: /boot
sdc2: /

I dont know about raid.

But under a normal install you dont need a boot partition.
I see you have two, perhaps that is casing the confusion?

For someone new, this is a hard core area.
I installed on Mint 13 mate on 8 gig SSD. Then booted into
It and Moved what ever i could in my home dir and place
them on another patition on my hard drive. I made
link to them so they would apperar to be still on my
SSD. I never work with raid. I hope this link
will help:

I know what SDC is but MDO?

I'll try to explain in in another way :)

I have 1 120GB SSD i would like to run OS from, and 2 3TB i would like to have my /home on.

I have created the software raid by setting the 2 3TB disks as GUID partitions and createt a Linux raid array.

during installation i selcted (/) for the SSD(sdc1) and /home for the 2 3TB in raid(md0).

when the installation finishes i boot and lots of errors pops up saying cant mount etc....

do i have to create a /boot partition for each drive for them to be able to boot?

or could some guru just show me a youtube link on how to do it. :D

For a work around you will need to load your home dir onto your SSD.
But first use a live DVD, or usb to partition your each of your three tera byte
hard dirves. I guse sda and sdb? Then install linux onto SSD.
When you boot into Mint use file manager and mouse click on each of the dirve or partition you were
able to set up this will auto mount them.
But I am sure there is another way do mount them during boot. If you can then you can
move your home dir onto hard drive.
I have got this to work.
On the Mint 13 instalation I used the "something other" install or it was"custome insall", it
was the third selection. I think around this part of the install will ask what other drive you will
want to have access to. inclued your hard drives.
I did not flag any of the drive bootable I thing Mint will do It.
Sorry I do not know how to make this raid configuration.
