I am new to LM. It was very easy in ubuntu to upgrade to new release. I have been searching whole day how to do so in LM. I want to upgrade from LM13 to LM14 through software manager or command line.
Yea that's what I'm trying to do,I know mint doesnt have or recommend upgrades like that.(Athough it is much faster to install through iso 10 min vs 3 hrs.I wish mint would do it like Ubuntu does.I really dont like Ubuntu.
After installing LM 14 RC MATE I try to restore software list. I get a message to fix broken packages but no indication what packages that are not working

Use the package mgr and use the broken filter to find and fix the problem.
I haven't had a time when I can devote 2 hours to do this, though I have taken time to backup critical /home items already. If someone has tried this, please update this with your experience please.
