Mint 14 cannot boot from bootable USB. Help!

I am currently using Mint 13 with Cinnamon desktop. I created a bootable USB (Mint 14) by running the .iso through Unetbootin. The problem comes in during the BIOS. I can select the USB as a bootable device, like I am supposed to. That's where everything hangs.

I get a blank, black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left. I thought it just may take awhile to boot. But after being hung on the same screen for about 5 minutes, and after several attempts with the same results. I gave up and decided to turn to the community for help. Thanks for your time!

do you use the latest unetbootin?

I used unetbootin to install my mint 13 but cannot remember how i made the bootable Thumb drive ..... Maybe you can help me with that and I can watch this post for the rest of it .... I have the iso on my thumb drive right now and also on my harddrive under the downloads folder..
