Automatic restarts

hi, this is my first week with linux mint, im fairy new to linux and dont really know an awful lot yet,

but. i've been having some problem lately, my laptop automatically restarts, without any questions or commands.

it just restarts.

why is this happening? and how can i fix it?

Have you asked this before?
I've never heard of it until I read something like this yesterday.
Quite frankly I have no clue
Tell us
which laptop, and as exactly as you can which hardware it has
also the exact version of Mint and if you have done any updates recently - and which ones if possible

The only time I have ever seen anything similar to this was in a laptop. The problem, after much head banging, turned out to be slightly loose and corroded battery connection contacts.
