I have been trying to get the 32bit version of mint 14 Cinnamon installed and its a no go and i dont know why. ive tried mate as well and it wont install ether. the live cd on both work fine but when i try to install with Cinnamon version it gets to the asking about how to partion disk screen and the picture looks like the vertical hold went out, just a screen full of lines and you cant see anything to choose to continue. ive been running mint 13 Cinnamon version with no problems what so ever and i got the mint 14 64bit Cinnamon to install just fine. so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Any particular reason why you want to use 32-bit on a 64-bit processor?

no theres no particular reason its just all the distros i use is 32 bit but if its no big deal with the 64 bit i wont worry about it. i was just trying to figure out why i couldnt get the 32 bit to work is all. ive only got 2 gig of ram on this computer so i didnt think the 64 bit would be any inprovment on performance everything ive read about 64 bit os's is there better with 3 gig of ram and anything under that should use 32 bit os's. im from windows xp user so still leaning on the linux stuff.

Well, the 2GB of memory won't really help you in the 64-bit OS, that is true...

I see where you are coming from, though-- why do you get that video issue...?

Have you tried a non-Ubuntu distro, 32-bit? Maybe the default video driver is not happy with your hardware.

im running mint 13 cinn. now and its working great. i installed it when it came out with no problems. thats why i thought 14 cinn. would install with no problems but it didnt. and nether did the mate version. on this computer i have ubuntu, xubuntu, edubuntu, kubuntu 12.04 Lts,fuduntu,opensuse,fedora17,bodhi,mephis 11,watt 12.04 or 01,trisquel,salax,peppermint 3,gnewsence. sorry ive been playing with alot of distros. only thing i was wondering if it could be the differance in the cinn.version. now the other thing i thought about was doing the back porting thing with the mint 13 but didnt know how well that would go. and by the way all of these distros are 32 bit. sorry had to add this on when i got the video issue was after i started the install. it got past the part of telling me that i needed atleast 5 gig of hard drive and connection to the internet then as soon as it was changing to the next screen thats when it went all haywire. but i was running them in live mode just fine and everything was working. no problems with the video. so i cant figure it out yet but hope too.

Hrm... Did you happen to verify the MD5 hash on your download?

I recall having problems getting a good download of 12.04 from within Ubuntu at one point...had to actually boot Windows to download and burn the .iso for a usable CD.

yea that was one thing i thought of today and rechecked the md5 again and it checked ok on both distros.

well i tried all the versions of the mint 14 32 bit distros and see if that made a differance and it is still no luck. if anyone thinks it might be a video problem here is my video specs under mint 13 cinn. plus other info about my computer that might be relevent i hope.
