Booting USB live image

hi

i have a 13-cinnamon USB live boot which works, including imagewriter and boot from USB
Following the same steps on same hardware except using 14.0 or 14.01 ISO - indicating "all is OK"
BUT the boot process hangs after approx 45-50 secs.
in safe mode the screen shows SMB stopped and starting BUT after 10-15 minutes it still hasnt moved
As i said 14.0 & 14.1 hang after 45-50 seconds
Any ideas, suggestion how to get around this problem ?
