my taskbar vanished?

it was there before i went to boot up this time all is fine but no taskbar? how do i get it back? thanx EDIT and when you tell me how do i even get control panel or whatever appear so i can go set it?

ok i found this i put gnome-panel in terminal and it came back but how do i set it to stay so it doesnt do again? thanks EDIT weird upon reboot taskbars back what setting do i change to make sure it stays?
