Startx won't start on boot - fatal error fglrfx!!!!

i run darnya with gnome and had annoying flickering so ran envy to remove the ATI graphics card driver. Upon boot I don't get the usual gui just a terminal like screen and when I type startx it ends with a fatal error due to missing fglrfx!I tried gedit to edit the xorg.conf file like it asks but it says i can't!What can i do now? Do I run envy at the current screen using commands or can i temporarily edit xorg to boot into vga/svga & then load the correct drivers and stuff the fancy 3d desktop effects!!

Please help!

It seems that the driver has not been properly removed - did you let Envy reconfigure x? That's absolutely necessary
Options
You can edit xorg.conf so that the driver is "vesa"
You can reconfigure x and hope that solves it
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
You can start Envy from the command line
If you use "Recovery mode" you are root and must either reboot or type exit to continue

Ok but how do i edit xorg when gedit won't load up, i'm at work so can't say exact message but suffice to say typing gedit /etc/x11/xorg.conf isn't allowed in the terminal before x starts anyway, but in terminal it'd work!!
The sudo commands will work in same screen and if not what are these envy commands.

"sudo nano /etc/x11/xorg.conf"

or

"sudo vi /etc/x11/xorg.conf"

Thanks Husse that worked a treat just need to resize my ext3 partition back as tried to install ubuntu on drive to transfer files across to back up usb drive.Gparted won't let me re-size it back any ideas please??

SOLVED!

Used Acronis to re-size drive and envy has sorted the right driver's out now it just must've had a wobble before.

Ok but how do i edit xorg when gedit won't load up

There is always Recovery mode (and the editor of my choice there is nano) but as I stated you are root and leave it either with exit or a reboot
You can run both
dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
and
Envy
in Recovery mode (no sudo as you already are root)
