Linux Mint Forums

I've been running Mint for the past year or so on a couple of old laptops. It's been a great experience and I'm definitely a convert. Unfortunately my old Aspire One died a couple of weeks ago (motherboard I think) and so I looked around for a replacement netbook, with the specific intention of installing Linux Mint. Surprisingly I ended up with another Acer Aspire One (model above).
The previous Aspire One didn't let me access the boot menu initially, but I was able to enable the boot menu from within the setup menu.
Unfortunately when I tried the same on the new Aspire One, there is very little in the setup menu and certainly nothing to enable the boot menu.
I spoke to friend who said that the bios could be locked down and I think that he said that I might need to flash it.
I'm keen to install Linux Mint (in fact I'd like to set it up dual boot), but I don't want to invalidate my warranty.
Anybody got any ideas? I'd be grateful of any help.
I know that the old hard drive (with Linux Mint installed) still works, so maybe one option would be to swap over drives. Would it then boot Linux from the hard drive. Probably invalidate my warranty.
As you can probably tell from the post, I'm happy to mess around with the netbook, but I don't really know very much about them.

Well, unfortunately nobody on the forums had any ideas, but I've managed to resolve the problem myself. I knew that it must be possible to get to the boot menu, because I've seen other posts on linux forums discussing issues with this particular model of Acer Aspire.
In case anybody else wants to get to the boot menu, you need to hit F2 when booting the machine. This will initially take you into a very restricted Setup menu (which doesn't enable you to change boot order). Once in the Setup menu, hit Esc to exit. The system will try to start Windows, but if you quickly hit F2 again it takes you into a full Setup menu which enables you to set the boot order.
Anyway, it worked and I've set the netbook to dual boot Linux Mint or Windows 7 (MInt first of course).
Clearly I'm rapidly becoming a Nerd.
