Stops/Halts on "Configuring Hardware"

Post by StevenB »

I'm trying to install Mint 14 MATE for dual booting between Mint and Windows 7. I did have problems to start with due to my NVIDIA card; which I bypassed by either loading in Compatibility Mode or adding nomodespec. A few topics have mentioned network connection, not sure if that matters but I can confirm that is working fine as I have posted this directly from the machine in Mint 14 'trial' mode.

Now when installing Mint 14 it halts on

Just to be clear the DVD that I am using for the install worked fine on my machine at work so I know the DVD is working ok.

I would appreciate some help with this and if you require any more information then ask away.

I'm not sure if it will help you, but IIRC some users have solved problems with the installer by removing the package ubiquity-slideshow-mint before starting the installation. May be worth a shot.

Doesn't help for me. That's a shame :(

I'm not too happy about that but I'll try to cancel the stalled installation and see if it works...

I installed Mint 13 in the end as that has no problems.

I thought it might of been my graphics card causing the problem, but I moved over to on board and removed the card and still didn't work. I will do some more testing when I get a chance and will update this topic if I have any luck.
