Disabling drivers at boot(from USB)

Hi, I'm new here. First of all, I am madly in love with Linux mint 14 XFCE. I have it on all of my devices, including a few flash drives.(installed on flash drive, not a liveUSB).
However, in order for my laptop screen to function properly, it needs a proprietary Nvidia driver. This works all fine and dandy on my laptop but when I boot the usb onto another computer, I just get a lot of RGB noise. I was wondering if there is any way to tell the portable drive to use the Nvidia driver when the Nvidia graphics card is present and to use the default when it isn't.

You may need to make your own scripts to configure graphics for different hardware.
