I want to replace Ubuntu 12.10 with Linux Mint 14. I have a live Linux Mint 14 disc and I'm familiar with installing from live distros. My issue is all the programs I have in Ubuntu. How can I "upgrade" to Linux Mint 14 without having to reinstall all my software and settings? This site/forum lists a a very good tutorial on making a backup of data and then a backup of programs if you are upgrading from Linux Mint to a higher version of Linux Mint and then restoring after a clean install, but I don't seem to have the same backup options/program in Ubuntu. Perhaps someone can just tell me the name of the backup program in Linux Mint; the rest of the 'how to' is perfectly clear. I expect to still have to reinstall a few programs, I just don't want to reinstall EVERYTHING. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
