how to download nvidia drivers while in the test version?

I have tried to boot from usb, it didn't work and i used nomodeset to be able to boot, while in the test version of linux mint 14 i have installed it and when i rebooted, it said nouveua failed to idle at channel 3, it said this before when i didnt use nomodeset, i tried to install the drivers using "sudo apt-get install nvidia-current" it downloaded the drivers and when i rebooted to my drive it still didn't work, i only have access to the live dvd (booting from usb). atm i have asus gtx 8800 700mb version.
