Installed Linux but can't boot from usb now

I installed linux mint 14 on a toshiba satellite u945 within windows 8. It... didn't go well and 14.1 came out and seemed to solve that but windows wouldn't boot or repair or restore so I fully installed 14.1. Linux Mint is working great (yay) but I need to get windows 7 (or anything) going for work and it doesn't respond to the usb at all (there is no cd/dvd drive), even the linux mint live usb seems to be ignored after a moment, but I'm about to double check that.

I'm sure I've commited some great sins, but any help would be appreciated.
