Grub didn't install properly on Mint 5

I attempted to install Mint 5 today. When i rebooted after install from the live cd grub failed (error 15 I think). I used a gparted cd to get to a grub menu then found my ubuntu 8.04 install and modified the appropriate lines to get to the mint install and booted. I found that the install didn't create a menu.lst file. I had to generate one using instructions I found via google. It now boots properly.
