I installed Mint 13 and all was good. I then issued the command "sudo update-rc.d mdm disable" to boot to command prompt rather than the GUI.
Unfortunately, the monitor doesn't like the resolution that is used for text mode, and tells me "Cannot Display This Video Mode." How do I go about fixing this?
The video card is ATI Rage XL. Monitor is a Dell 1907FPt with a native resolution of 1280x1024.
(I found a monitor that I can use temporarily that works in both text and GUI, so I do have access to the system to make any necessary change to support the Dell monitor.)
