win 8 digital signature error message

Hello all...New to the forum..Not exactly new to linux but it's been quite a while. All right, enough chit chat...I got a new laptop..Toshiba p850 class with Win 8 preinstalled. I would like to dual boot Linux Mint 13, and I think I just came face to face with that 'secure boot' thing that Micro$oft put in there. An error message 'Boot Error..a Proper digital signature was not found'. I thought I read something that the latest versions of ubuntu and therefore mint had overcome that obstacle, but maybe that was for v12.10 and v14 respectively. I also read the secure boot can/must be disabled. It's kinda muddy water for a newbie like me.
I'd appreciate it if someone could set me straight. Sincerely

What does this mean the file is signed with a broken digital signature issued by microsoft? it says it on my anti virius program what should i do
