inspiron 1525 / black screen after installation

hi from a newbie!(please forgive me if this was posted/resolved already ).

I just installed Linux Mint Nadia cinammon.
All went well for the installation, I removed the cd when prompted and hit enter.
The laptop rebooted, but all I get is the cursor blinking in the top right corner.
Looks to me like a video driver problem.
If someone could give me a hint as to how I can get the right driver I would really appreciate it.
