Over writing Hard drive partitions during install of mint 14

Post by Henry Jones »

During the install from 12 to 14, after backing up all the files to a secondary 500 Gig HD, the install then repartitioned the secondary drive from the 3 data partitions to one large Cinnamon partition with 2 smaller partions.

Is there any way to recover the old partitions and save some of the files?

Primary drive was a dual boot Lisa12 and wondoze vista 64 bit, western digital 500 Gig. 2 partitions for mint and Vista

secondary drive was a 500 Gig Seagate

Lisa and vista are still there, however. During the search for a cure, I apparently turned off the automount on the hard drives to Lisa 12. The recovery doesn't work due to a 'auto mount function fail due to last mount time is in the future', 'less than one day, possible due to incorrect setting of system clock.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

testdisk found the partitions and most of the files are moveable.

I consider this thread solved.
