Cannot access Hard drive, Error mounting: mount exited with

Postby eraserheah34 on Wed Mar 27, 2013 12:21 pm

This is my first post to the boards so bare with me. I installed Linux mint 13 onto my laptop(lenovo thinkpad T400) and everything went smooth. After I used the mint partition tool I finished the installation. I should add that I'm dual booting mint 13 and XP Service Pack 3. Anyways, when I attempt to access my hard drive it gives me an error message:
Unable to mount location
Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 13: Failed to load runlist for $MFT/$DATA.
highest_vcn = 0x97cd, last_vcn - 1 = 0xaa23
Failed to load $MFT: Input/output error
Failed to mount '/dev/sda1': Input/output error
NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it's a
SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows
then reboot into Windows twice. The usage of the /f parameter is very
important! If the device is a SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate
it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g.
/dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). Please see the 'dmraid' documentation
for more details.
When I try to boot into windows it gives me the BSOD and I cant boot into safe mode. Im very lost now, and help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
