Vista to Linux Mint 13?

Postby nerdkat on Sun Apr 14, 2013 5:30 pm

So, currently I have a 2007 Lenovo ThinkPad R61i running Windows Vista. I tried out Ubuntu 12.10 and liked it, but wasn't ridiculously fond of it. I think Linux Mint 13 will work best on my computer as it has long-term support, et cetera.
My computer's properties:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5250 @1.50GHz 1.50 GHz
RAM: 3.00 GB
System type: 32-bit operating system

So I'm wondering: what edition of Linux Mint 13 should I get? Cinnamon, Cinnamon no-codecs, Cinnamon OEM, KDE, MATE, MATE no-codecs, MATE OEM, or Xfce?

I'm fairly good with computers (not a mad computer scientist though), but new to Linux. My computer is kind of old, so I don't want stuff that will drive the computer insane with all the unnecessary information. Although nice amounts of customization would be beneficial. And I want to get rid of Windows Vista altogether.
Thanks! :D

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.
